Strawberry-Banana smoothie - Breakfast in a drink


If you love strawberries and bananas, you will be delighted with this refreshing smoothie. It's a delicious and healthy drink for breakfast that is full of protein and antioxidants. Strawberries are naturally sweet and bananas are creamy and rich which adds an extra smooth texture to the drink.


Strawberries are rich in B and C vitamins and antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory proprieties and help regulate blood sugar. Blending bananas into the smoothie adds fiber, potassium and manganese which help protect against chronic disease and aids digestion . Therefore, this smoothie is an healthy source of energy and nutrients.


This is an nutritious option for those who are on the go in the morning because smoothies are ready in 5 minutes and portable.

Yield: 2 servings                               Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:
• 1 ¼ cup fresh strawberries; diced (frozen strawberries may be used)
• 2 ripe bananas, sliced (for extra thickness use frozen bananas)
• ¾ cup milk or substitute soy, rice, almond or coconut milk
• ½ cup ice cubes

  • 1 1/4 fresh or frozen strawberries, diced plus a few strawberries for garnish
  • 2 bananas, sliced (for extra thickens use frozen)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
Directions:
  1. In blender, place ingredients. Cover and blend on high speed about 30 seconds or until smooth.
  2. If needed, stop the blender and stir the mixture near the blade.
  3. Pour into 2 glasses or jars and serve immediately. Garnish with fresh strawberries.
